Life on the Homestead

This is the second history in Lloyd Samuel Ericksons book "Memoirs".

Here Lloyd tells about how his swedish grandfather Solomon Erickson in 1907 came up to Canada from USA and filed for both his sons, John and Elmer (right picture). John was turning 17 that year, and Elmer 19.

The story gets to a sad tone when Lloyd tells about how his uncle John died 38 years old in Christmas 1928, and that Solomon died short time after that. Right picture shows Elmer and Anna Honningsvaag Erickson.

HOMESTEAD: Erickson farm, probably in the 1950-60s? I don't remember where I photographed this picture, but I did it in 2008, probably at the farm or at Lilly and Ralph's apartment at the old peoples home. (Svein Helge)
