Lloyd Samuel Erickson's Obituary
Lloyd S. Erickson of Camrose, AB, passed away October 5, 2010 at the age of 94 years. He was survived by his wife, Aurora, with whom he celebrated his 67th wedding anniversary in June 2010.
His children: Ron, of Vancouver, BC; Marilyn (Terry) of New York, NY; Rick (Lynn) of Edmonton, AB and his grandchildren: Niels, New Orleans, LA; Kirsten (Nadime) Montreal, QC; Luke, Jamie and Blake, Edmonton, AB and predeceased by their eldest son, Bob, Edmonton, AB.
Lloyd is remembered by his siblings: Arline Jensen, Edmonds, WA; Mary Ruth Curtis, Grants Pass, OR; Elma Cameron, San Francisco, CA; John Erickson, Vancouver, BC and Evelyn Laws, Edmonton, AB; along with many nephews, nieces and cousins in Canada, USA, Italy, Iceland and Norway.
He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph Erickson, Irma, AB and sister, Phyllis Moe of Mount Vernon, WA.

Lloyd was born on a farm near Jarrow, Alberta in 1916. He attended Coal Springs School, Grades 10 and 11 at Irma High School and then graduated from Camrose Lutheran College.
He attended SAIT in Calgary where he completed a two-year course in Industrial Electricity and Radio and earned his Wireless Operators Certificate. In 1940 Lloyd joined the RCAF as an Electrical Technician first as a corporal and then a Sergeant stationed with the 419 Lancaster and 405 Pathfinder Squadrons in England and later assigned to the Tiger Force.
Following WWII he joined Canadian Pacific Air in Edmonton and in 1947 the family moved west. After a short stay in Mount Vernon, WA he joined Trans-Canada Airlines in Vancouver, and in 1955 accepted a position in Edmonton with Pacific Western Airlines; he became Maintenance Supervisor.
He had work assignments in Angola, the Arctic Islands, Ottawa, California and Seattle.
Lloyd retired in 1981 and moved to a farm near Kingman, AB. He enjoyed travelling overseas with Aurora or with other family members. He travelled to Norway nine times to visit relatives and one memorable trip to the former Soviet Union that included Samarkand and Bukhara on the historic Silk Road to China.

Early days at Erickson Family Farm. I guess this is Anna, maybe with Lloyd (?), and Elmer, and another guy with car. But I'm not sure if this is Lloyd as baby, because he told me in 2008 that he as a young guy at 14-15-years old, did a wind turbine installation at the farm, and also that it was him that connected the mill so that electrical power was supplied to the house and the barn. Lloyd had a life long passion for history, was well read and always curious to learn about new things. He become quite proficient on the computer and together with Aurora had a happy and satisfying life. He had a zest for life, was interested in people and especially interested in the welfare of his family.
Funeral was held on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Camrose, AB, with lunch to follow; interment at Sharon Lutheran Church, Irma, AB at a later date.
